Social Welfare Program

New Life Mission is located in the neighborhood of a sprawling slum called “KWARE” the Swahili word for “quarry”. Since the Mission began, the needs of helping the least fortunate people have been our main aim. In the social welfare program we care for families who are in desperate need of assistance.

Through our feeding program at the Mission in Ongata Rongai we help children to get one meal every day.

These are children we earlier had done home investigation with and met with the parents, who are mostly single mothers. Most of them are also assisted in school either at our own nursery schools or in the nearby local primary school.
Youth who have dropped out of school due to different reasons can join our Auto Garage Training school to learn mechanics. Every year an average of 30 students both male and female are trained and sit for grade 3 test at an appointed Government school.
Down at Mashuru, boys have the opportunity to join in at our Polytechnic school to acquire carpentry skills. This is mainly meant for young maasai boys who have either not gotten a chance to go for basic formal education or have had a little of it. We have also a tailoring course underway that is meant for girls.
Within the Newlife Mission, Mrs Virginiah Woresha heads both the social welfare program, feeding program and the poor & needy program.
